The Ministry of Science and ICT has increased its budget on artificial intelligence and security in the first supplementary budget of the Lee Jae-myung administration. The decision is interpreted as a result of the government's decision to keep pace with the current administration's stance of advocating the AI government, and the security area has become more important than ever since the hacking of SK Telecom.
The Ministry of Science and ICT reported at the plenary session of the Science, Technology, Information, Broadcasting and Communication Committee held at the National Assembly on the 26th that it has set up a second supplementary plan, an increase of 205.71 billion won.

The National Assembly Budget Office said, "The AI Innovation Fund has been expanding its investment through an extra budget since it was newly introduced in the main budget in 2025 and before it is invested in AI companies, so it is necessary to make sure that the fund is formed and AI companies are invested smoothly," adding, "It is necessary to make investments in early start-ups and various AI technologies by dividing roles in AI funds and investment targets of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups."
